A Letter From Laura Allen

Dear Friends,

My family and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome and thank you for your interest in the Dan Allen Foundation. This Foundation, which means the world to us, was founded in memory of my husband and Mark, Taylor and Danielle's father. We greatly appreciate your time in learning more about our goals.

As many of you may already know, Dan Allen was a successful college football coach at Boston University and the College of the Holy Cross. He was tragically injured by a horrible chemical exposure that led to the onset of a disease known as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Disorder (MCS) and consequently his immune and neurological systems were injured. Life as our family knew it would never be the same and we miss Dan more with each passing day. He is closer to us than our own hearts! It is our hope that we can utilize the Foundation as a vehicle to prevent others from being harmed as Dan was.

Dan had such a presence in our lives and all those he came in contact with. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and truly lived by the Golden Rule. He always treated people the way he wanted to be treated, which in turn, made him the greatest husband, father, brother, friend and coach. His greatest suffering was leaving his family and football players whom he loved so passionately.

Although Dan suffered as a result of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, he showed dignity during his illness that was beyond measure. We as a family hope to honor his name and preserve his legacy by raising public awareness of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and the harmful effects of toxic chemicals and pollutants. Our goal is to raise funds for scholarships, encourage children to become involved in active lifestyles, improve and sponsor athletic facilities and most importantly, assist families that have been affected by Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Disorder. With your help and with the help of many coaches and players that Dan worked with throughout his career, we also would like to organize an annual youth football camp for less fortunate children.

Dad is how our children remember him. Coach "A" is how his many players fondly remember him. Simply put, he was the best and we pray that he is in a place of complete heavenly bliss. Dan will endure forever in our hearts.

My family would again like to thank you for taking time to learn more about the Dan Allen Foundation. We are all thankful and humbled by your support of our mission.

May God bless you all!

Most Sincerely,

Laura Allen
